This summer, PlateUp is...
Turning up the Heat
PlateUp! 1.5, August 2026

A new set of challenges to test the most experienced of cooks (and something easier for everyone else, too!)

Turning Up The Heat is available on all platforms today, bringing you...

Heat
A new set of challenge cards

You've beaten Day 15. You've beaten Overtime 25. Some of you have even beaten Overtime 200. But now, there's a new challenge.

Getting to Overtime on a run will now unlock a demanding new card that you can add to future runs on that dish. If you can beat that, there's 9 more waiting to be unlocked, with each one stacking as they go.

Heat 1: Shaky Foundations -- starting appliances are worse
Heat 2: Second Bite -- gain a food card after Day 2
Heat 3: Elephant Queues -- queue patience only resets between days, and patience totals and increases are halved
Heat 4: Health Concerns -- customers eat very slowly if there are large messes in the room
Heat 5: Customer Crowds -- increases maximum group size by 1
Heat 6: Flaming Knives -- chopping progress is not kept when stopping, chopping too much destroys things, and food burns 300% faster
Heat 7: Rented Restaurants -- pay 1 coin each day for every 10 floor tiles, and customers pay 25% less
Heat 8: Soft Touch -- all processes are 25% slower
Heat 9: Popularity Crisis -- customer count increased by 25%, and increases by 5% each day
Heat 10: Ends and Beginnings -- choose a starter or dessert after Day 1
Chill
Ways to play without the stress

For everyone who isn't so keen on things being harder, what if they were easier instead?

From trying out risky strategies to playing with new friends, there's plenty of reasons to want a more chilled time.

Gain access to Chill cards for every dish you've beaten, enabling you to play it with less pressure. Or alternatively, you can toggle all the Chill cards for every dish via the settings.

Chill 1: Easy Street -- +100% coins and extra shop blueprints
Chill 2: Friendly Faces -- patience is doubled, and 30% fewer customers
Chill 3: Purrvana -- customers are cats, and the restaurant will never be shut down
Fajitas
New dish

This update brings Fajitas to the game. Serve them while they're sizzling hot or customers will send them back!

Each fajita must be served hot from the pan, alongside a stack of tortillas and lettuce.
If fajitas stay out too long, they'll stop sizzling and need to be reheated.
Serve fajitas with four extras and three additional sauces, ranging from cheese, tomato, onion, and bell peppers to guacamole, crema and salsa!
The Greenhouse
New upgrades to bring into your restaurants

Where better to enjoy all the heat than in your own greenhouse? This update adds the Greenhouse to the lobby, where you can collect all of your plants.

Plants are a new reward, earned by beating Day 15 with Heat cards active, that you can bring with you into future runs. They're a bit like crates that last forever.

Each plant has a unique buff that will help propel your restaurants to success. Each plant also has a random strength, affecting how powerful it is. Play on higher heats and get further into overtime for a better chance at the strongest plants.

Some of them might even help you turn up the heat!

Extra Helpings

And finally, even more:

Customers will wait by buffets if their order isn't completed yet, or someone else takes the item they wanted. Plus, enjoy two new buffet upgrades: the Heated Buffet and the Platter Buffet!
Automation improvements mean combiners can now bin things and portioners can now empty bins.
Copied blueprints can now be replaced into their cabinets, and they can be placed into new cabinets too! They still can't be copied, though.
Players on Switch can now unlock achievements and track their progress in-game.
The Active Card view has been re-made from scratch to be easier to use with lots of cards. You can now filter by type and scroll through them all.
Extra crates (and plants!) you earn will now be placed into an inbox, so that you can access them without clearing up space in your lobby.
  • The setting selector in the lobby now remembers what you last chose, so you don't need to keep reselecting it
  • Fixed a bug where two portioners trying to act on the same thing at the same time would cause one to wait a frame (this means two portioners pointed at the same sink will fill pots correctly)
  • Fixed a bug where smart grabbers wouldn't always grab correctly if they were grabbing from another grabber
  • Fixed a case where two dishes could overlap in the lobby
  • Performance improvements throughout the game
  • PlayStation networking has been improved to try and fix joining problems for some players. We have looked at this issue a lot (and even hired external support to work out what's going on!) but we're still not entirely sure. If you're still having issues joining friends on PlayStation, please let us know as we have added some (opt-in) logging that you can enable that will help us work out what's going on
  • Fixed dishes with less-than-default eating times not applying reliably
  • Fixed a bug with text disappearing on the endgame screen
  • Fixed a bug where delivering extras to a customer would reset their eating time
  • Fixed missing text for Dish Cabinet reward screen
  • Fixed a bug with buffets and sundaes where multiple customers in a group ordered the same thing and would sometimes get stuck
  • Fixed a bug where saved resolutions would not be loaded correctly
  • Fixed a bug where high-tier franchises involving Sundaes could sometimes have lots of copies of the Sundaes card which would eventually make it impossible to franchise them. This bug could make the game crash on load in extreme cases; these fixes should make the game load again correctly, but if not please let us know and we can manually fix your saves if the game is still not loading
  • Fixed achievement count being wrong in some cases
  • Fixed bins emptying into your hands if you ran into range with the button held
  • Fixed a crash when leaving a lobby shortly after it loaded
  • Fixed a bug with Nut Roast visual not updating when split
  • Fixed customers squatting when waiting around in some cases
  • Fixed Double Helpings not listing the increased money benefit
  • Customers queuing at host stands near hatches will now queue in the correct place, which prevents cases where they could teleport over the wall
